There’s a saying in tennis that 7-5 sets are always mental, and this one certainly seemed to be that way.
After 11 straight holds, Tomas Berdych completely folded in the twelfth game of the second set. Serving at 5-6 to force a tiebreaker, Berdych couldn’t win a set, with wild unforced errors off his normally dominant forehand proving to be his undoing.
Rafael Nadal is now only one set away from a second Wimbledon title.
No one has ever beaten him from two sets down at a grand slam.
