As good as a companion as a dog can be, it's just not going to be on board for everything in life you want him/her to be on board for as a friend. A dog is never going to appreciate the fine book you just read, because they cannot read. They won't detect the fine hints of vanilla in the fifty dollar bottle of champagne you ordered for the anniversary dinner, because they are dogs, and don't drink champagne unless you spill it on the floor. (Even then they're never going to appreciate a fine bottle of Veuve, though they will certainly get drunk on it.) Even the grandeur of double rainbows escapes them, because they are colorblind and, after all, just dogs.
Add the Tour de France to the list of things dogs actively disrespect, since they will walk right into the middle of your peloton without thinking twice, monsieur.
If this clip could have a soundtrack, it would be Bonecrusher's "Never Scared." That dog is getting across the road, skinny men in lycra on ten thousand dollar bikes be damned.
