The Philadelphia Flyers have picked up Nikolai Zherdev with a one-year contract reportedly worth $2 million. This transpiration was reported as being close for the last couple of days but never confirmed. Returning to the NHL after a one-year stint in the Kontinental Hockey League, the former Blue Jackets and Rangers property will be depended upon for his pure offensive capabilities.
From TSN.com:
"Nik is a highly-skilled player who, at 25-years-old, we feel will be a good fit to our core of forwards," said general manager Paul Holmgren. "Prior to playing last season in Russia, Nik ranked as one of the top young point- producers in the NHL. We are pleased to add him to our team."
