UFC on Versus 2 Results - Jon Jones Demolishes Vladimir Matyushenko

It didn't take very long for Jon Jones to run through his latest test in Vladimir Matyushenko. Following a spinning back kick Jones got a nice takedown and passed to side control. He quickly moved into the crucifix and landed a series of elbows that forced Herb Dean to move in for the stoppage.

It's time for the UFC to move Jones up with a fight against a top 10 opponent.  He's ready for a big time test.

UFC on Versus 2 Results - Yushin Okami Edges Out Mark Munoz

It wasn't pretty but following his UFC on Versus 2 bout with Mark Munoz, Yushin Okami should be one step closer to a 185 pound title shot.

In the first round it was Okami who was able to use great footwork to control spacing and direction as he did just enough to win the round. . In the second it seemed like more of the same until Munoz landed an overhand that shook Okami. Rather than continue to throw bombs to attempt to put Yushin away Munoz shot for a single leg. In the third it was Okami's turn to land the hard punch in the round and then it was more of the same as he avoided Munoz's takedowns with a deep sprawl.

When the judges scores were read they were 29-28 Okami, 29-28 Munoz and 29-28 Okami givin Yushin the split decision win.

UFC on Versus 2 Results - Jake Ellenberger Stops John Howard In Round Three

In the second fight of the UFC on Versus card Jake Ellenberger was able to cause severe swelling of John "Doomsday" Howard's eye that forced the doctor to call a halt to the bout in the third round.

The first round was controlled by Ellenberger, who used his wrestling and ground and pound to take Howard out of his game. Howard came out hard in round 2 with big strikes that rocked Ellenberger, but Jake was able to change levels and again get a takedown. On the ground Jake landed a very big elbow that caused severe swelling of John Howard's left eye. Howard would flurry again late in the second but again Ellenberger took him down and worked a slow ground and pound.

Amazingly, despite his grotesquely swollen eye Howard was allowed to start the third round. It was only after yet another takedown and ground and pound session by Ellenberger that the fight was stopped by the doctor who declared that Howard's eye was swollen to the point that he couldn't see.

UFC on Versus 2 Results - Takanori Gomi Knocks Out Tyson Griffin

With many (including myself) calling him shot before the fight, Takanori Gomi made a big statement by knocking out highly regarded contender Tyson Griffin in the first round.

Gomi was able to use his height to keep the fight at the distance he wanted before finding a home for his right hand only 1:04 into the fight. Griffin went limp and hit the ground forcing the referee to step in and stop the fight. Griffin seemed to be trying to protest the stoppage but wasn't able to stand up and from the replays it was clear that it was a good stoppage.

This was a huge win that helped Gomi rebound from a very ugly loss to Kenny Florian in his first UFC fight.
