Well, that was quick. Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the four-way trade that will send Trevor Ariza to the Hornets, Courtney Lee to the Rockets, Troy Murphy to the Nets and James Posey and Darren Collison to the Pacers is "done." Yeah, that was fast.
Anyway, ESPN's Chad Ford has a quick summary of what this means for each team. The cliff notes:
- The Hornets get Ariza to try to convince Chris Paul that they're willing to spend to win. Ariza signed a six-year, $35 million contract last summer.
- The Pacers get the young point guard they've desperately been seeking.
- The Nets get a veteran big man, which Avery Johnson wants, and an expiring contract.
- The Rockets save lots of money by dumping Ariza's long-term salary for the cheaper Courtney Lee.
