Braves Place Troy Glaus On DL, Accommodate Derrek Lee

It's been a rough stretch for Troy Glaus. After a hot streak lifted his OPS all the way into the high-.800s, some knee soreness started to get the better of him, and, over the past two months, he's batted just .172 with three home runs. The division-leading Braves rather predictably wouldn't stand for that kind of underperformance, and Wednesday they made the dual moves of trading for Derrek Lee and, to make room, placing Troy Glaus on the disabled list:

Braves placed 1B Troy Glaus on the 15-day disabled list with a sore left knee.

Lee will assume Glaus' regular job at first base and, when Glaus comes back, he will serve as a right-handed power bat off the bench. The 34 year old just hasn't recently been able to deliver on the promise he showed earlier on.
