Brad Keselowski Explains Why He Told Bristol Crowd 'Kyle Busch Is An Ass'

Brad Keselowski pulled off one of the most memorable moments of the NASCAR season on Saturday night when he took the microphone during driver introductions at Bristol and proclaimed over the track's public address system, "Kyle Busch is an ass!"

The comment drew a roar and thunderous cheers from the estimated 155,000 fans, many of whom were upset with Busch for intentionally wrecking Keselowski in the Nationwide race on Friday night.

So what prompted Keselowski to share his feelings in an unusual setting?

"Juan Montoya and I were talking about it (before driver introductions), and he said I wouldn't do it," Keselowski said. "I said, 'Hell yeah I'll do it!' The preacher was standing there and I said, 'Hey man, would you be offended if I said, 'Ass?'

"He said, 'No, man! 'Ass' is in the Bible.' I said, 'Thank you very much!'"

The response drew one of the loudest crowd reactions in memory – if not the loudest. It measured 104.2 decibels on SB Nation's noise meter (a record).

"It's all cool, man," Keselowski said after finishing 19th. "Just say what you mean and be real. They appreciate that."

Keselowski was lapped by Busch during the race and clearly didn't cut his rival any slack in the process, crowding him and refusing to give an inch until Busch was able to pull away.

"Hell yeah I raced him hard!" Keselowski said. "I was just having fun. If I was a little faster, it would have been a lot more fun."

Busch, asked for his reaction to Keselowski's comment, said sarcastically, "Who? I don't know who you're talking about."

Told Keselowski was in the 12 car, Busch replied, "I saw it, but I passed it."

Though Keselowski found himself in the midst of controversy again, the Penske Racing driver observed that he has "a reputation for wrecking without causing wrecks."

"It's weird," he said. "I think I have a reputation (because of) bumping. Hell, we all bump. It's just some of us get away with it, some of us don't."

The Penske driver remained 25th in points in his first full Sprint Cup season. He said his No. 12 team was consistent, but consistently average.

"We just need a little bit of speed every week," he said. "Then we'd be in contention to run up front and win these races."

Then it’s okay………..

Yeah, where did Kyle finish? Where was Brad? uh huh…one of these days Brad will learn that he just doesn’t matter in the Cup Series

Hear, hear..

And truthfully, if kyle had run a full schedule in the Nationwide series, he’d be the champ, not Brad…by a longshot!

.....

haha….great story. Glad Brad did it, lol.

This interview just shows how stupid his thinking is . I can’t imagine anyone calling a minister hey man….. how disrespectful. Can’t imagine that the Captain was real happy with his attitude and comments. He doesn’t run his ship that way.

Kyle's response on SportsCenter was interesting

When shown a reply, Kyle said, “Who is that guy?” Asked about it again he said he’s on a different level “than that guy.” He did not crack a smile at all and looked kinda pissed he was even asked about the introduction.

Of course NASCAR fans think it's funny..

And, it builds ratings…believe me, this will get “play” all week (exactly what Jeff talked about in his previous article)..

But in actuality, Brad came off as the ass, not Kyle. Kyle put his money where his mouth is and had 3 wins in 4 days, a feat not repeated very often.

Brad’s the ass, not Kyle.

Brad told the truth

Kyle doesn’t matter with the ones that matter….the fans. He is an albatross around Nascar’s neck. If he won every race he ran in the future, he still wouldn’t be a decent human being. Brad told the truth.

If he were a winner

then he wouldnt be afraid of racing ALL his competitors. Instead when someone is better than him he wrecks him.

Someday he’ll learn that a real winner isnt someone who mocks the fans who pay for the tickets who pay for him to race. That’s not a winner. That’s called a sore loser.

Sore Loser?

LMAO! Looked to me like he was a WINNER, and the so called fans were the sore losers.

Kyle has plenty of fans. He may not matter to some of them but to say he doesn’t matter to all fans is not correct. I believe he is in the top 5 in merchandise sales. There were plenty of fans still waiting for HIS autograph at 12:30am after the race. KB is doing just fine with HIS fans. The great thing about NASCAR is you can like the sport but you can choose your own driver to follow and your own driver(s) to hate.

The whole thing is hilarious cause Kyle got his sweeeeep. :)

I’d much rather Kyle wins than someone like Jimmie Johnson. At least Kyle isn’t afraid to show his personality.

And lmao at the ‘fans’ whining about Kyle’s actions. Want some cheese to go with that whine?

Kyle is an "A"

To bad the media, fans, etc. didn’t see Kyle “1st reaction”, on SportsCenter, when they showed Kyle the intro, he was speechless for a few sec., you could have lit a cig. off his face, he was P’d (big time) LOL, recovered quick with that line, “then” he brought it to the media center. He may act like things said don’t bother him, but it ain’t so, that’s why he reacts the way he does.

I thought that was one of Kyle’s more poised interviews. I really respected the interviews not repeatedly pressing, unlike Marty Smith. I know that reporters are trying to get a good quote, but they IMO shouldn’t try to steer the story, ask questions, but just tell the story.

Penske's feelings

If Roger Penske can deal with Kurt calling him “Dude”, pretty sure he will not have a problem with Brad telling the world what it already knows is the truth!!

You can say what you want about Kyle but what Brad did was really rude. I am glad that I did not have my child at the track to hear that. Did you people not see all of the LITTLE KIDS who sang pre race and were near the stage at this point??? Maybe some people cuss in front of their children but I think this totally lacked class on BKs part and I would have been pissed if my child were there to hear this. I don’t care what you think about KB you should NOT be cussing in front of little kids & acting like a jerk which BK showed he is.

yap yap

media beeped out bks comments..they thought his comment was totally inappropriate! especially to kids!!!

If still at HMS....

If Kyle were still at HMS he would not have gotten the trifecta.

Who?

Busch, asked for his reaction to Keselowski’s comment, said sarcastically, “Who? I don’t know who you’re talking about.”

AWESOME!

From another article: Keselowski did make it hard for Busch to pass him late in the race, when Keselowski was fighting not to go a lap down, but Busch made a clean move around him in his No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota after several attempts.

“Great job,” his team radioed after the pass.

“I know,” Busch replied. “I have more class.”

Rogers reiterated that after Busch completed the victory.
