NFL Roster Cuts: Bengals Release WR Antonio Bryant

In the first week of free agency in March 2010, the Cincinnati Bengals signed WR Antonio Bryant to a four-year, $28 million contract. That included $8 million guaranteed.

Fast forward nearly six months and the Bengals have released him.

The move is surprising but not completely shocking. Newsday's Bob Glauber reported last week that the Bengals were prepared to make this move.

The Bengals signed WR Terrell Owens making some think Bryant would be expendable. At one point he was a candidate to start the season on the PUP list because of injury issues.

In 2008, Bryant signed with the Bucs for the league minimum. The next year the Bucs gave him the franchise tag so, along with his $8 million the Bengals, he's earned nearly $18 million in just one year.
