No, This Isn't A Joke: Chris Chelios Retires, Takes Job In Detroit Front Office

I'm never thought I'd actually be writing this sentence, but believe it or not, after 26 seasons, Chris Chelios is finally retiring from hockey. The 48-year-old will take a job with the Detroit Red Wings, serving in an advisory role in the hockey operations department.

NHL.com explains what exactly Chelios will be up to after hockey:

He will work closely with Detroit's front office and coaching staffs, providing insight on a wide range of on-ice issues while helping to develop and mentor young players within the organization. He will also assist on the business operations side of the team, appearing at games and other functions to interact with fans and potential business partners.

Pensburgh asks the most important question of all: with Chelios gone, how many NHL 94 players are left in the league?
