Broncos LB Elvis Dumervil Reportedly Tears Pectoral Muscle, Expected To Miss Four Months
Broncos LB Elvis Dumervil left Wednesday night's practice clutching his arm. He did not return and after practice head coach Josh McDaniels said he had no update on Dumervil's injury.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it's a torn pectoral muscle. Schefter reports that he's out "indefinitely" but the injury is expected to sideline him four months.
That would put his return to the field in December.
Dumervil is expected to get another opinion so the Broncos can more accurately determine how to handle the injury.
This news comes just two weeks after Dumervil signed a five-year extension with the Broncos that includes $43 million in guaranteed money.
Dumervil set a team-record with 17 sacks in 2009.
