Maybe Having Half A Knee Gives You A 'Decided Schematic Advantage'

Charlie Weis, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator and former Notre Dame head coach, is no picture of perfect health. Weis has publicly said he once worried about dying from obesity and coached on crutches in 2008 after a player accidentally tore up his knee on the sideline.

Which was probably a prelude to Weis' latest mishap. But even for him -- well, this was probably an odd moment.

On Monday, finally cleared to speak with the media, the Kansas City offensive coordinator and former Notre Dame head coach explained why he's been hobbling around the practice field for 10 days, walking on a cane when he climbs out, with difficulty, of his motorized cart.

"I already had some problems in my knee, and the Wednesday before training camp a piece of it broke off," said Weis. "So that's why I'm the injured reserve coach."

Yes, a piece of Charlie Weis' knee apparently just fell off. There's an analogy about his tenure at Notre Dame to be made there, I'm sure.
