The Big Ten's addition of Nebraska for 2011 pushes the conference to 12 teams, and means that the conference can also add divisions and a lucrative football championship game. That game won't happen until the fall of 2011, but according to the Associated Press, the announcement on how the conference will be split happens Wednesday night. Sports Illustrated writer Stewart Mandel tweets that the announcement will come at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
The makeup of the divisions has been debate fodder of late, with the prospect of rivals Michigan and Ohio State being split up and havingtheir traditional season-ending game moved to earlier in the year earning a fair bit of ink.
SB Nation's Big Ten blog, Off Tackle Empire, broke down some possibilities last week, and, reading the tea leaves, saw a split of the scarlet and gray and Big Blue in the near future.
