Dear World: Meet Brian Wilson, Certified Ninja

Brian Wilson is the 28 year old flamethrowing right-handed closer for the San Francisco Giants. If you read his Wikipedia scouting report, you come across the following:

...Wilson is considered a fearless pitcher due to being unafraid of throwing on the inside part of the plate. He has impeccable command with the fastball, and compliments it with his slider, often employing it as an off-speed pitch. He is also a corner-location pitcher, throwing the great majority of his pitches to both inside corners as well as the outside corner. He has also stated numerous times he is a certified ninja.

"Classic Wikipedia fabrication," you say to yourself. But then, it's your error for being too hasty.

Take it away, Jim Rome Is Burning.

Star-divide

Brian Wilson has been known to be an unusual specimen to Bay Area fans for years, now, but it was Jim Rome who put him in the national spotlight. Follow along as we hear about Wilson's breakfast, affinity for crossword puzzles, injury policy, ninja training, orange cleats, and oodles more. More importantly, follow along as Wilson out-Romes Jim Rome on his own show, remaining consistently committed and deadpan for the full eight minutes in the sports equivalent of a celebrity guest going on set and outdancing Ellen.

Whether Wilson is being himself or playing a role, I couldn't tell you. What I can tell you is that San Francisco has a new fan favorite. Two more fan favorites, if you count Wilson's sidekick, The Machine. The crazy ones are always fan favorites. Until they retire. Then they're just crazy people you ignore on the street. Nice double standards, society.
