Nick Swisher Still Battling Knee Problems, Set For MRI
Towards the end of August, Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher fouled a ball off his knee, and while tests didn't reveal any severe damage, they did show deep inflammation. Deep inflammation that continues to keep Swisher out of regular action. He's out of the lineup again on Monday, after missing Sunday's game against the Rangers, and he's scheduled to have an MRI on Tuesday to see if anything's improving.
Said Swisher over the weekend:
Healthy most of the year, Swisher has batted .289/.362/.516 over 569 trips to the plate. Though not necessarily irreplaceable, he is a vital cog in the middle of the Yankee order, and as such it's important for him to get into working shape in time to gear up for the playoffs.
In Swisher's absence, Greg Golson has made a handful of starts. Check out more at Pinstripe Alley.
