The Carolina Panthers entered the season with hopes that Matt Moore would continue to develop putting off the Jimmy Clausen era for at least another year.
Apparently, that won't happen.
Panthers coach John Fox confirmed to reporters Monday morning that Clausen would start for the Panthers in week 3.
"We have to do something to spark our passing game," Fox said. "Jimmy is a guy we think highly of. We’ll give him an opportunity. We thought he made the most of his opportunities on Sunday."
Clausen replaced Moore in the fourth quarter on Sunday against the Bucs but didn't fare much better than Moore. Clausen completed 7-of-13 passes for 59 yards while Moore completed 6-of-16 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. Both players had interceptions.

Jimmy Clausen Benched; Panthers Will Go With Matt Moore In Week 7
Jimmy Clausen held onto the Panthers starting QB job for three weeks.
Panthers head coach John Fox confirmed on Monday that Clausen will go back to the bench in Week 7 and QB Matt Moore would return as the starting QB.
Clausen had a miserable three-game stretch. His "best" game was a 11-of-21, 146-yard, one touchdown performance in Week 5.
He completed over 50 percent of his passes just one time in that three-game stretch and did not surpass 200 yards passing in any game or more than one touchdown in any game.
It shows you how dire the situation is in Carolina right now if they're going back to Moore after his miserable start to the season.
