Despite indications to the contrary throughout the week, Saints running back and return specialist Reggie Bush is inactive for today's game against the Seahawks.
Bush has been out while recovering from a broken fibula suffered against the 49ers in a Monday night game in September. Bush practiced this week, though, and reports indicated that Bush's condition had improved enough for him to go for the Saints today in New Orleans. But after a pregame workout, the decision was made to keep Bush on the bench.
Bush has been out for eight weeks, and is just part of the Saints' MASH unit at running back: Pierre Thomas remains out with a torn tendon in his ankle.
Julius Jones started at running back for New Orleans.

Saints RB Reggie Bush left the Saints Week 2 game against the 49ers with a broken fibula that was expected to cost him four-to-six weeks. Nearly two months later and Bush may finally be returning. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Bush is expected to be available this weekend when the Saints play the Seahawks, as Bush said he would be last week before the Saints bye week.
"Just trying to do everything I can to get back on the field but I feel really good, I feel like I'll be more than 100 percent," said Bush. "This bye week has come at a perfect time."
Initial reports suggested he would miss six weeks but it's been seven games and eight weeks. Bush likely won't receive a full complement of carries right off the bat as he's worked back into the lineup. RB Pierre Thomas is also likely out for the Saints this weekend so there's always the chance Bush sees more carries with the injury situation there. It's hard to predict what kind of touches he'll see this week.

More people are now reporting that Saints RB Reggie Bush suffered a fractured fibula on Monday Night Football against the 49ers.
A fractured fibula is a 4-6 week injury so Bush can expect to miss at least a month.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Saints will conduct more tests today.
If that's the case, he'd miss games against the Falcons, Panthers, Cardinals and Bucs.

Look out for the Karma Police.
In the third quarter of Monday night's game between the New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers, Reggie Bush limped off the field after he seemed to injure his left in a muffed punt recovery.
Bush had 3 punt returns for 43 yards, four yards on five carries as well as thirty yards and a touchdown receiving before leaving the game.
