Chargers WR Vincent Jackson said in a series of text messages to Jason La Canfora of NFL Network that he is disappointed that he was not traded by the Chargers.
"I just don't understand why (a trade was not completed). They obviously think I'm a valuable player by asking for such high trade compensation, but why am i only offered tender salary? My agents and teams interested did everything to make it happen, but this organization stopped it. I just want to play football. It feels unethical and I am disappointed."
It's been reported that the Vikings were one of the teams that were actively trying to trade for him. Jackson's agents have said that they had a one-year contract with an option worked out with another team if a trade was completed.
Jackson has yet to sign his restricted free agent tender so he is technically not under contract. He had to sign before 4:00 p.m. Wednesday in order to play for a team in Week 5. Now he will have to serve a three-game suspension for being on the roster exempt list if he does ever sign with the Chargers.
