2010 US Open, Day 6: Roger Federer Advances Past Mathieu

On Saturday, Roger Federer made short work of Paul-Henri Mathieu to advance to the Round of 16 at the U.S. Open. The world's second-ranked player defeated Mathieu in straight sets, but it wasn't easy throughout, said Federer:

The Swiss number two seed had more trouble from the gusting winds at Flushing Meadows than he did with the game of Mathieu as he ran out a comfortable winner.

"I thought I played great today in the wind," Federer said in a courtside interview. "I think he had break point at 4-3 but once I was able to save it and break him, I think it broke his will maybe.""

Federer aims to win his sixth U.S. Open men's singles title of the last seven years.
