Reported Deal Between Vincent Jackson And Unnamed Team Falls Through, According To Sources

Via Pro Football Talk, it was reported Saturday that Vincent Jackson and an NFL team had worked out a one-year deal in order to facilitate a trade from the Chargers, according to a league source. While the team was unknown, possibilities include the Seahawks and Rams, who showed previous interest.

Now it looks like that report was either premature or the unknown decided it wasn’t worth Jackson’s demands.

Pro Bowl wide receiver Vincent Jackson remains on the Chargers’ roster, even though general manager A.J. Smith has spent weeks trying to trade the disgruntled player. Several teams have shown interest in Jackson but have been unwilling to meet either the Chargers’ trade demands or Jackson’s contract demands.

And so, Jackson remains a Charger where his three-game suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy awaits him. It begins retroactively when he arrives at camp so now he’ll miss the first four games of the season for sure.

Keep an eye on Bolts From The Blue for updates.
