In the sixth inning of a bout between the Rockies and Reds, Joey Votto drilled a line drive right back to the mound, where it clipped Aaron Cook in the leg. Cook was lifted from the game and diagnosed initially with a contusion, but he was taken in for x-rays, and what they showed was much worse:

Cook could and should make a full recovery, but this injury almost certainly brings an end to his 2010 season. Over 23 starts, he's posted a 5.08 ERA with 62 strikeouts and 52 walks. Check out more at Purple Row.
