The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year reportedly has a new contract.
Josina Anderson of FOX31 in Denver first reported that CB Charles Woodson and the Packers agreed on a contract extension. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports it's a two-year extension meaning he's tied to the Packers for five more years.
Woodson is entering the fifth year of a seven-year, $52 million extension.
The years remaining on the contract are interesting because Woodson's age (34) makes it unlikely he'll be performing at such a high level for much longer. Then again, he was the best defensive player in the NFL just a year ago.
He had approximately $22 million remaining on his original contract.
The deal is expected to be finalized on Thursday.
A report from the same FOX31 source came out several months ago that he was seeking a contract extension and Woodson denied it then.
