Cowboys WR Miles Austin Agrees To Six-Year, $57 Million Extension

Miles Austin ascended to the status of being of one the top wide receivers in the NFL in 2009 and was rewarded handsomely for it just as the following season was set to begun.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Austin and the Dallas Cowboys have agreed on a six-year contract extension worth $57 million over that span. The receiver signed a contract tender worth $3.1 million in June, but owner Jerry Jones vowed to secure Austin to a long-term deal.

Austin emerged from relative obscurity to become the Cowboys top receiver in 2009, ending up with 81 receptions for 1,320 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season. In his first three seasons in the league, Austin caught only 18 passes for 354 yards and three touchdowns, though he didn't start any games in that period.
