The Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners have won their play-in game by a score of 70-61 over the Alabama State Hornets and advance to play Ohio State on Friday. Melvin Johnson III cooled off in the second half, scoring just four points after dropping 25 in the first half, but his teammates Jeromie Hill and Devin Gibson chipped in with double digit scoring performances.
It looked like UTSA were going to run away with the game after a dominant first half performance, but Alabama State were much better in the second half. Their containment of Johnson was key, but in the end, the deficit was too much to make up.
Both teams shot well under 50 percent from the field as a team, and that's certainly not going to get the job done against Ohio State. If UTSA wants to avoid being embarrassed in the first round, Johnson is going to have to put together a complete performance.
