We have another halftime score on the first major day of the 2011 NCAA Tournament. No. 9 Old Dominion leads No. 8 Butler, 29-27, at halftime of a spirited game in Washington D.C. The game has been tight throughout, with the lead changing hands 12 times in 20 minutes.
The Bulldogs were the NCAA runners-up last year, but have played unevenly throughout the season, mostly because guard Shelvin Mack has struggled with his shot at times. That hasn't been the case in this game, as Mack has 11 points on 4-8 shooting, including 3-6 from downtown. The rest of the Bulldogs have just 16 points on 7-21 shooting.
The Monarchs are known for their inside strength, but they have uncharacteristically been sloppy with the ball. The Monarchs are shooting 48 percent from the field and outrebounded Butler, but committed a staggering 11 turnovers in the first half.
The winner of this game goes on to play the winner of Pittsburgh vs. UNC-Asheville. You can view the full 2011 NCAA Tournament schedule here.
