Kansas State looked poised to run away from Utah State more than once in Thursday night’s NCAA Tournament action, but the Aggies kept fighting back. While Stew Morrill’s squad wouldn’t fall quietly, it also couldn’t get closer than arms reach as Kansas State managed to keep Utah State at bay for much of the night. The end result was a 73-68 win for Kansas State and a date with Wisconsin in the second round.
Jacob Pullen led the way for Kansas State with a game-high 22 points. Curtis Kelly was the other half of the one-two punch, finishing with 15 points. Tai Wesley, Brockeith Pane and Pooh Williams shouldered the scoring load for Utah State, finishing with 18, 17 and 16 points, respectively.
Kansas State has a date with Wisconsin, winners earlier in the day, on Saturday while Utah State heads home. Check out the rest of the updated Southeast region of the 2011 NCAA Tournament bracket.
