On Friday night, Boston University stayed close to Kansas through the first half. Unsurprisingly, the Jayhawks turned on the jets in the second to win their first 2011 NCAA Tournament game and advance in the bracket, 72-53.
Kansas' Morris twins led the team, with Marcus scoring 16 with nine rebounds, and Markieff adding 15 with eight rebounds. Kansas shot 50.9 percent from the field, and out-rebounded Boston U., 37-24.
The Terriers trailed by only four at the half before slipping away. John Holland led his team with 19 points, and D.J. Irving added 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
Kansas now advances to the Field of 32, and will play the winner of Friday night's UNLV-Illinois game on Sunday. The Jayhawks are looking for redemption after falling to Northern Iowa in the second round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
