The Washington Huskies survived an early onslaught from the Georgia Bulldogs, along with an extended scoring slump, to knot the game at 28 just before the half. Isaiah Thomas drove the lane with time winding down in the half, hitting an acrobatic lay-in to send the Huskies into the locker room with the momentum and a tie ballgame.
It’s been almost all Trey Thompkins for the Bulldogs in the first half. Thompkins was a big reason Georgia jumped out to an early lead as he abused the Washington interior defense en route to a game-high 15 first half points. Only three Bulldogs scored in the first: Gerald Robinson added eight points and Travis Leslie had five. Thompkins also led the way on the boards with eight rebounds.
Scott Suggs’ seven points off the bench were a team-high for Washington in the first half, with Matthew Bryan-Amaning adding six more. Isaiah Thomas had just four points, but also dished out four assists.
