NCAA Bracket Update: Butler Stuns Pittsburgh On Matt Howard's Free Throw In Wild Finish

The No. 8 seed Butler Bulldogs have defeated No. 1 seed Pittsburgh, 71-70, in a stunning ending in the 2011 NCAA Tournament. After a buzzer beater and multiple fouls, Matt Howard sunk a free throw with under a second remaining after he was fouled on a rebound. The game, truly, epitomized March Madness.

Howard was fouled by Nasir Robinson on a free throw rebound after Gilbert Brown was fouled by Shawn Vanzant with 1.4 seconds remaining. Brown hit the first to tie the game, then missed the second. Butler had taken the lead on a layup by Andrew Smith with 2.2 seconds remaining.

The Bulldogs advance to face the winner of Kansas State Vs. Wisconsin. The Panthers have to wonder what possibly happened to lose that game.
