We already touched on the extremely controversial five-second call against Texas in its NCAA Tournament loss vs. Arizona on Sunday, but the outrage continues on Monday at Burnt Orange Nation, our Texas Longhorns site. There they offer us another video look at the call, with a stopwatch overlay and super slow-mo replays:
This view shows two interesting aspects of the call. First, it could be argued that official Richard Cartmell raises his right arm to make the five-second call just as the stopwatch hits 5.0 seconds. But whether it was five seconds or not shouldn't even be the issue. At 4.19 seconds, you can clearly see the Texas' Corey Joseph turning to Cartmell and calling a timeout. Here's the still image of that:
Of course, there are always plenty of other plays and decisions to blame for a loss (like Jordan Hamilton calling timeout), but this is a pretty clear-cut moment for Texas fans to point to as potentially costing them a trip to the Sweet 16.
