VCU's stunning victory over Kansas to make it to the 2011 Final Four is fun for many reasons. One is that many believed VCU didn't even deserve to make the NCAA Tournament in the first place. Another is that it's yet another win for the little guy. But more to the point, it looks like this also means the putdowns of Kansas can now begin. Shaka Smart, the VCU coach, got things going with this statement late Sunday night.
"Kansas had more (fans), but ours were louder and better. We shut the Kansas fans up real quickly, didn't we?"
To be fair, Smart was speaking in front of a ton of fans at a rally in the Siegel Center in Richmond, so he had to say something like this. Also, his VCU team took a double-digit lead early in the game, which is probably what shut the Kansas fans up more than anything. But still, as long as we're all gushing over Shaka Smart, let's find one more reason to do so.
Your response, Kansas fans?
