2011 NFL Mock Draft: New York Giants Select G/C Mike Pouncey

Stay connected with SB Nation

The New York Giants are up next in SB Nation's 2011 NFL mock draft and with the 19th overall pick Big Blue Viewgoing offensive line with G/C Mike Pouncey. The other Pouncey brother out of Florida figures to be a first round pick and this is a spot we've seen him go before.

If you're a team in need of interior offensive line help, and drafting around this area, Pouncey is a no-brainer. He's similar to his brother, who had an excellent rookie year with the Steelers, so there's reason to believe he can do very well.

SB Nation's Big Blue View explains the pick:

The Giants have injury and age concerns with both center Shaun O'Hara and guard Rich Seubert heading into the 2011 season, and Pouncey covers them in both slots. I know some people wonder if Pouncey is really a center, but if Giants offensive line coach Pat Flaherty can make Adam Koets into an adequate center, he can make Pouncey into a star.

Pouncey seems close to a sure thing so I can't complain about this pick.
