2011 NFL Draft: Tennessee Titans Team Needs Aren't Just Quarterback

When talking about the Tennessee Titans 2011 NFL draft plans, the one position folks will talk about the most is quarterback. The Titans' options are limited with QB Vince Young on his way so they'll need to identify someone as the quarterback of the future.

Whether that comes through free agency (if that ever gets here) or the draft is unknown. The Titans likely won't have the option of picking QB Cam Newton or QB Blaine Gabbert, the top two quarterbacks in the 2011 NFL draft, so they may be looking at a guy like QB Jake Locker or QB Ryan Mallett.

SB Nation's Music City Miracles notes that quarterback isn't the only position of need so the Titans will have options.

The 2010 Titans defense finished ranked near the bottom of the NFL again, so they will also be looking to add some defensive playmakers. They need to upgrade their linebackers as well as add a defensive tackle with some bulk because they currently have some undersized guys at the position who were injured a lot of the season.

At defensive tackle, they could have a shot at one of the top two guys, DT Marcell Dareus or DT Nick Fairley. One will likely be gone but I could see Fairley sticking around to the eighth pick.

The Titans draft options appear to be coming down to potentially reaching for a quarterback or addressing a defensive position. For more on the Titans draft day plans, visit Music City Miracles
