2011 NFL Mock Draft: Chicago Bears Select DT Stephen Paea

Stay connected with SB Nation

SB Nation's 2011 NFL mock draft rolls along with the 29th overall pick and for that we turn to our Chicago Bears blog, Windy City Gridiron. With DT Tommie Harris out of Chicago, the Bears are looking to pick up another defensive lineman, writes WCG, and that pick will be DT Stephen Paea.

Paea is the one who set a new Combine record on the bench press last February. Here's what WCG says about him:

Paea has a fast burst off the snap, is very strong, and can man-handle offensive linemen in his pursuit to the QB. He has a non-stop motor, and his "bull rushing" style can quickly wear down interior offensive linemen. Not only is this 3-technique a dominating pass-rusher, but can also cause traffic jams at the point of attack on running plays, and has the strength to make tackles even while being blocked.

It's hard to pass up on strong defensive linemen when they're available so I can't blame WCG for this pick. Their strength is their defense so they need to reload to ensure that continues to be their strength.
