2011 NFL Mock Draft: New York Jets Select LB Akeem Ayers

The New York Jets are selecting 30th overall in SB Nation's 2011 NFL mock draft and Gang Green Nation has made UCLA LB Akeem Ayers their selection. Rex Ryan loves rushing the passer and he'll get another linebacker for that.

Gang Green Nation says this is a situation where need meets value.

The front office has made it clear the status quo at outside linebacker was not good enough. Otherwise, Jason Taylor would be back at his reasonable 2011 salary. While Ayers is more raw as a pass rusher than the Jets would like, they have an excellent defensive coaching staff to try and mold his big time athleticism into a pass rushing threat.

If I were a linebacker in this draft, I would love to be picked by the Jets. Rex Ryan does incredible work with defensive players and he could have Ayers playing at his highest potential.
