2011 NFL Mock Draft: Denver Broncos Select DT Marvin Austin

Stay connected with SB Nation

SB Nation's 2011 NFL mock draft continues with the Denver Broncos drafting in the second round at 36th overall. The Broncos can go in a number of directions since they have plenty of holes to fill but Mile High Report decided to address the defensive line with North Carolina DT Marvin Austin.

Dan Kadar of Mocking The Draft says Austin has talent but there are of course question marks.

Austin can move around as well as any interior lineman in this year's class, and is quick for his size. The issue he still faces is about his work ethic. Working out is easy. Translating it consistently to game day is another story. At North Carolina, Austin too frequently took plays off or seemed to go half speed. Is that a good fit for Denver's rebuilding defense?

It seems this happens with defensive linemen more than any other position. You've got this great player who can dominate but you just need him to bust his hump on a daily basis. It's easier said than done...or else every team would have a great defensive tackle instead of only a few.
