NFL Draft Rumors: Who Will Pull Off First Trade?

Stay connected with SB Nation

The 2011 NFL draft will include, at some point, a trade. The NFL lockout prohibits players from being traded but picks and future picks can be traded to we'll see at least some action.

But who will be the first to pull the trigger and make a trade?

SB Nation's Brian Galliford predicted in his latest 2011 NFL mock draft that the Dallas Cowboys will be the first to make a trade moving up to the fifth spot and getting CB Patrick Peterson. That's certainly a possibility but it's nearly impossible to predict all the first round trades.

So which team will be the first to pull the trigger on a trade?

Houston moving up to get CB Patrick Peterson. Plenty of people have talked about how much the Texans love Peterson so I wouldn't be surprised to see them move up to get him. That said, I don't think it's likely. That's an expensive move-up.

Tennessee moving back and still selecting a quarterback. I could see some team wanting to get into the top 10 and finding a trade parter in the Titans. Tennessee could move back a few spots and still pick up the third best quarterback -- QB Jake Locker. The Titans are also a candidate to move back into the first round to select a quarterback.

The Patriots trading into the top 10. I don't think this is likely but New England is the only team with enough ammo to make a serious splash moving up in the first round. They have three of the first 33 picks so, if they wanted, they could get into the top 10. I just don't think that's their style, though.
