2011 NFL Mock Draft: New Orleans Saints Select LB Quin Sturdivant

Stay connected with SB Nation

SB Nation's 2011 NFL mock draft continues with the New Orleans Saints and the 56th overall pick. Canal Street Chronicles, representing the Saints, looks to improve the defense by selecting LB Quan Sturdivant.

Here's what CSC had to say:

After going the "Best Player Available" route and getting some much-needed help on the defensive line by drafting Muhammad Wilkerson in the first round, it's time for the Saints to upgrade their other position of need: outside linebacker. Though listed as an inside linebacker, Sturdivant also spent significant time playing on the outside during his college career with the Tar Heels. Despite some reported minor character and injury issues, his ability to contribute on special teams will make him very attractive to Sean Payton and Gregg Williams. Plus, he's got a cool name.

The Saints can always use help on defense as it seems the defense is always one step behind that offense. I like this pick -- solidifying a weakness.
