2011 NFL Draft Results: Prince Amukamara Picked By New York Giants

With the 19th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the New York Giants went with the best available player, snatching up Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara.

Prince Amukamara has all the tools necessary to be a shutdown corner at the NFL level, from excellent instincts to raw, physical skills. Amukamara impressed in workouts ahead of the 2011 NFL Draft, clocking a 4.37-second 40-yard-dash and turning in measurables that alleviated some of the concerns about his ability to play cornerback in the NFL.

Our own Brian Galliford was impressed, and said this back in January.

Prince Amukamara is arguably the best pure cover corner in this draft class. He has the speed, ball skills, and fluid hips that make him a premier prospect at one of the league's most valuable positions.

Amukamara had slipped a bit ahead of the draft, but was still seen as a highly sought-after commodity. For his career, Amukamara made 155 tackles, grabbed five interceptions and forced three fumbles while working on an island. His reputation preceded him, in many ways, as teams threw away from him and generally avoided his presence.

For more on Amukamara's new home, head over to Big Blue View and SB Nation New York.
