2011 NFL Mock Draft: Detroit Lions Select DE Da'Quan Bowers

Stay connected with SB Nation

We have what we believe is the first real "steal" of SB Nation's 2011 NFL mock draft. With the 13th pick, Pride of Detroit, representing the Detroit Lions, has selected Clemson DE Da'Quan Bowers. Sure, there are plenty of question marks with him but at the 13th pick it's worth the gamble.

Pride of Detroit runs down the players available and, with CB Prince Amukamara off the board, and being unsure of the offensive tackle prospects, instilling the best player available strategy make sense. SB Nation's Mocking The Draft agrees:

Of the 13 picks thus far in this mock, this is clearly the biggest steal. Bowers could have been the pick several times already and been a good one. With Vanden Bosch, 32, getting up there in age, Bowers would be able to ease his transition into the NFL.

The Lions will be turning into the best defensive line in football. With DT Ndamukong Suh already there, this quickly becomes the identity of the Lions. Solid pick and worth the risk.
