The Colts visited with Andrew Luck this week and the Redskins are expected to do the same.
The Indianapolis Colts are widely expected to select Stanford's Andrew Luck with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. That pick is expected to be followed by the Washington Redskins selecting Baylor's Robert Griffin III at No. 2 overall.
But just in case that doesn't happen, the Redskins are visiting with Luck. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Luck is expected to leave Indianapolis on Tuesday, where he was visiting the Colts, to make a visit to the Redskins in Washington D.C.
Pre-draft visits to the team facility do not include workouts, so Luck will only be visiting with team personnel. RGIII was also reportedly in Washington D.C. this week meeting with the Redskins.
Even with this news, the Colts selecting Luck and the Redskins selecting RGIII seems like a formality.

It has long been expected that the Indianapolis Colts will select former Stanford Cardinal quarterback Andrew Luck in this month's 2012 NFL Draft. The Colts possess the No. 1 overall pick and therefore are allowed to pursue the signing of their intended target prior to draft day. Although there is no indication that the Colts currently have an offer on the table, Luck did participate in a private workout with the team on Tuesday in Palo Alto, CA.
According to Mike Chappell of the Indy Star, it seems as though the workout went off without a hitch.
The team had no comment after putting former Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck through a private workout Tuesday in Palo Alto, Calif. Among those on hand were general manager Ryan Grigson, coach Chuck Pagano, offensive coordinator Bruce Arians and quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen.
Luck couldn't be reached for comment. George Whitfield Jr., Luck's private coach, was not allowed in the workout but said, "Things went well. Not much news."
At last word, the Colts were still weighing their options and stating that Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III was not out of consideration for the No. 1 pick.

The next step in the evaluation of Stanford QB Andrew Luck comes on Tuesday as the Indianapolis Colts will put the former Stanford quarterback through a private workout on his college campus on Tuesday. The Colts are sending the big decision makers to Stanford for the workout, including general manager Ryan Grigson, coach Chuck Pagano, offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen and vice president of football operations Tom Telesco. Owner Jim Irsay will not attend.
VIDEO: Andrew Luck Scouting Report
Luck spoke with the Indianapolis Star about his workout on Tuesday with the Colts and said he would love to be a member of the Colts. He also said he'll show them whatever he needs to show them at Tuesday's workout.
"I think I've put together a decent body of work under my belt with the (game) film and the pro day," he said. "If they ask for more or need more, I'll be happy to oblige."
Most think the Colts will be selecting Luck later this month in the 2012 NFL draft but the Colts have left the door open on selecting Baylor's Robert Griffin III, so there will be at least some intrigue with the first pick.

The Indianapolis Colts aren't saying whether Stanford's Andrew Luck or Baylor's Robert Griffin III will be the No. 1 pick but most league observers feel confident in saying they'll pick Luck. That's helped by the fact that the Colts will work out Luck, but not Griffin III.
That workout, according to Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star, will take place Tuesday at Stanford. The Colts will be sending most of the big decision makers including GM Ryan Grigson, head coach Chuck Pagano, OC Bruce Arians, QB coach Clyde Christensen and VP Tom Telesco. Not attending the workout is owner Jim Irsay.
The Colts will also be able to bring Luck into Indianapolis for a visit but he can not work out while he's there. The Colts can only watch him work out at Stanford.
Despite some of the talk that the Colts are considering RGIII, the smart money continues to be on Luck. Things can change, but as of now there aren't any solid signs that the Colts are considering anyone other than Luck.

The 2012 NFL Draft is just a month away. While the Indianapolis Colts hold the No. 1 overall pick, they'll have to decide between the two top quarterbacks in the draft: Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III. While the assumption by most is that the Colts will select the former Stanford Cardinal QB Luck, the team has stated recently that they like both players.
Colts general manager Ryan Grigson recently spoke to the Indianapolis media, reports Paul Kuharsky of ESPN. During the conference call, he touched on the fact that the team is scheduling a private workout with Luck, but not with Griffin.
"We saw (Robert Griffin III). Circumstances didn't allow us to do anything private with him, so we did the usual pro day. We did the best we could with that situation. We do have a private workout that we're scheduling with Andrew (Luck) in the future, which will be here in the upcoming weeks."
Although they are technically unable to schedule a private workout with Griffin, it is clear they have a definite interest in Luck and want to take another look before the draft.

Since final day of the 2011 NFL season, if not before, the general consensus was that the Indianapolis Colts would select former Stanford Cardinal quarterback Andrew Luck as the first overall pick in the 2012 Draft. It was considered a foregone conclusion in most circles. However, former Baylor Bears quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III has done nothing but raise his stock since the 2012 NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
The Washington Redskins gave up quite a bit to trade up to the second slot in the draft order, presumably to ensure they would be able to select Griffin as the second overall pick. Now it appears the Colts might throw a wrench into those plans.
Dan Graziano of ESPN reports that Colts owner Jim Irsay says the team has not decided on whether to select Luck or Griffin as the top pick in the draft. The Colts, apparently, like both quarterbacks.
"I think they're both outstanding young men," Irsay said during a break in the owners meetings here Monday. "I don't think it's either-or, where only one of them is going to succeed. I think they're both going to be great."
Since they have the No. 1 pick, the Colts could, if they so choose, do a contract with Luck (or Griffin, or any player they want, actually) in advance of the draft.
"If we decided to do a deal early with one of them, that's something we could definitely look into," Irsay said. "But we're still in the evaluation process right now."
It's possible that the Colts are just unwilling to publicly tip their hand. Either way, both the Colts and the Redskins will wind up with a talented quarterback. But this is certainly an interesting development.

With the first pick in SB Nation's 2012 NFL mock draft, the Indianapolis Colts select Stanford QB Andrew Luck.
No surprise here. The Colts have been connected to Luck since about midway through the 2011 NFL season when it became obvious they were going to be the league's worst team. There have been some wondering if the Colts would take Robert Griffin III but all indications are that they'll be picking Luck, the latest can't-miss prospect.
SB Nation's Colts blog, Stampede Blue, made the pick and breathes a sigh of relief as they can now finally move on from Peyton Manning.
Peyton Manning is in Denver, and the Indianapolis Colts can now FINALLY close a chapter on one era and begin writing a new one. Make no mistake, Luck is being drafted to replace Manning, not to simply succeed him. Luck's success will be critical in helping the Colts establish a true connection with the Indianapolis community, a community that some feel views as Manning was bigger the Colts. If Luck doesn't thrive and win over fans, the Colts will become an afterthought in the Hoosier State, just as the Reggie Miller-less Indiana Pacers have become.

After watching Robert Griffin III post the second-fastest 40-yard dash time for a quarterback in the last 25 years just two hours earlier, Andrew Luck, who is trying to stave off Griffin as the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft in April, posted an impressive time of his own, running his 40 in 4.59 seconds in his second attempt.
If that time, which is unofficial until every quarterback runs, holds up, it would tie Jordan Jefferson as the third-fastest quarterback in this year's NFL Scouting Combine. We knew Luck was athletic after his spectacular one-handed grab this season, but that time is in Cam Newton territory from the combine last year. Luck hasn't shown the running vision of Newton, but he'll be able to scramble very effectively for the Indianapolis Colts, or whoever else takes him in the draft.

The courtship of Andrew Luck by the Indianapolis Colts has received mounds upon mounds of coverage as soon as it was clear that Indianapolis would finish the 2011 season as the worst team in the NFL. It's safe to assume that in the time since, Luck has given some thought about what it would be like to compete with Peyton Manning on a daily basis. At the 2012 NFL Scout Combine on Thursday, Luck made sure to heap as much praise as he could upon on his potential mentor.
"Peyton was my football hero. That's who I modeled myself after. You never replace a guy like that," Luck said. "Who knows what happens?"
He added, "If I have the opportunity to learn from a guy like that, of course, you're going to take advantage of it."
Luck won't be throwing at this year's Combine, which makes sense considering the top spot in the draft is all but his. He measured in at 6'4, 238 pounds on Thursday.

Two-time Heisman Trophy runner-up and the agreed-upon No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Andrew Luck, arrived in Indianapolis on Thursday for the 2012 NFL Combine. The Stanford Cardinal quarterback spent the day checking in and getting accumulated, but will spend Friday undergoing medical examinations, psychological testing and interviews.
Luck's measurements have already been taken and NFL.com reports that the official height and weight for Luck is 6'4, 238 pounds. No surprises in either of those numbers, as those were the vital stats listed by Stanford prior to the Combine.
Luck's closest competition in the draft, Baylor Bears quarterback and reigning Heisman winner Robert Griffin III, measured in at 6'2 and 3/8 inches, taller than previously thought. Griffin also weighed in at 223 pounds, three pounds heavier than Baylor had listed.

It's been a virtual lock for nearly a year now that quarterback Andrew Luck, formerly of the Stanford Cardinal, would be the overall No. 1 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. The 2011 regular season featured regular updates on which NFL team had the worst record and was thus most likely to earn the "Andrew Luck pick" this year.
Even after Luck wound up in second place in the Heisman Trophy voting for the second year in a row, his stock hardly took a hit.
The 2011 Heisman winner ended up being another quarterback in the 2012 NFL Draft, Robert Griffin III of the Baylor Bears. Despite the fact that Griffin was voted as being the better player and quarterback in the country and given the most prestigious award in college football, Luck is still scouted as being the more "NFL-ready" of the two young men.
Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reports that scouts and coaches feel Luck is the more solid (or at least less risky) pick between the two, if only slightly.
Of 15 NFL scouts and coaches surveyed since the Senior Bowl in late January, 14 said they would take Luck first. Some of that came down to Luck being a little bigger (he is 6-foot-4, 235 pounds compared to Griffin at 6-2, 220), which means he could take more of an NFL pounding. Some of it came down to the systems they played in (Baylor's spread offense gave Griffin more opportunities to show off his immense talent).
"I can’t sit here and quantify the difference why there seems to be a little more risk with [Griffin], it’s more of a gut feeling. We’re splitting hairs because they are both great kids," one NFC personnel man said. "But I’ll say this about Luck: The minute he took over at Stanford, he looked the part. Not just how he threw it or all the highlight tape stuff you see. He looked like a quarterback, like a guy who is going to run your team.
" … He can walk in, run a team right now and do enough things that you can play competent, winning football. That’s the worst he’s going to be. He’s going to be a player on your team for 10 years, barring injury, and in this business that’s saying a lot."
Many of the evaluators have been saying for some time now that Luck just "feels" like an NFL quarterback. There will be a lot of people who will be very surprised if Luck is not the opening-day starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts this coming fall.

Stanford Cardinal quarterback Andrew Luck is expected to be the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by virtually every outlet. There was some speculation on which agency the top ranked quarterback would sign with, but according to Liz Mullen of the Sports Business Journal, Luck has chosen to go with the Wasserman Media Group for both on-the-field and off-the-field matters.

Realistically, this should have no bearing on where the quarterback will be drafted in April, but it could point to potentially how fast he will get signed by looking at some other deals done by the Wasserman Media Group.

The 2011-12 NFL regular season is over which means for at least 20 teams the focus shifts to the 2012 NFL draft. The draft order of the non-playoff teams is set and we know that the Indianapolis Colts are drafting No. 1 overall. In 1998, they were in this same position and drafted a player, Peyton Manning, who has developed into one of the all-time greats.
Now the Colts face a similar question with the 2012 NFL draft and presumed No. 1 overall pick Andrew Luck. They are expected to select him in April when their turn comes. But will Luck play in Indy? There's a concern that Luck could pull a power play, as Eli Manning did with the San Diego Chargers eight years ago, and refuse to play for the Colts.
According to Luck, there should be no concern. He said after the Fiesta Bowl he'll play wherever he's picked.
"I'll be happy wherever I land. Whether it be pick one through 270," Luck told ESPN. "I just want a chance to playoff professional football. It's been a dream. Whatever situation I end up in, I'm sure it'll be for the best."
The Colts' decision with Manning and Luck will be the story of the 2012 NFL draft. Undoubtedly, they'll draft Luck. The debate comes over whether Manning will be there when Luck arrives.
Colts Decide On No. 1 Pick But Won't Say Who
The Indianapolis Colts hold the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and it is widely believed that the Colts will select Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the pick. The Colts have come out and said they've decided on who they will select with the first overall pick, but won't say who the player is.
Grigson also talked up both Luck and Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III, who some say could be chosen first instead of Luck, but that's unlikely. The Colts have put Luck through the pre-draft ringer attending his Pro Day, hosting him for a private workout, and meeting with him during the NFL Combine. The Colts also attended Griffin's Pro Day, but that has been about the extent of their work with him.
It's still believed Luck is going to be the pick for the Colts on April 26, but Grigson is playing the draft game in his first stint as an NFL general manager.
