Zach Brown is one of the top players eligible for the 2012 NFL Draft after a standout senior season for the North Carolina Tar Heels. He isn't the same guy that is a leader of a band, but he is currently the top-ranked outside linebacker in the upcoming draft class.
Brown will be scrutinized quite a bit, but SB Nation's Mocking the Draft -- who ranks him as the eighth best prospect in this year's class -- says his quick first step should alleviate quite a few concerns.
It seems every linebacker heretofore will have his first step compared to former Texas A&M pass rusher Von Miller. If that's the case, Miller may have a quick twitch challenger in North Carolina's Zach Brown. The senior-to-be gets off the line of scrimmage as well as you'd hope from a linebacker. He uses that first step to avoid blockers and get into the backfield.
It'll be interesting to see whether or not he's able to translate that skill into a top-ten pick.
