Mike Adams could have been a sure-fire first round selection in the 2012 NFL Draft if he played the entire season for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Instead, despite some good performances and fantastic athleticism, Adams is on the edge of the first round due to one major red flag, that he was one of the Ohio State players suspended five games for selling team merchandise.
Nonetheless, NFL Draft blog Mocking The Draft loves his skills. They're concerned with his lack of bulk, but they're also convinced that he can add some more without a problem.
NFL teams are always on the lookout for the next great offensive tackle. This age of speed rushers and exotic blitzing schemes makes the athleticism of tackles very important. They need to have quick feet and good balance to reach the edge and protect against counters. Mike Adams possesses the type of skills that will be attractive to NFL evaluators ... However, he needs to add some more bulk and strength in order to hold up against the bigger NFL players. His lack of bulk could hinder his ability to anchor and push defenders off the line. Mocking The Draft currently has Adams as the 34th ranked player on their board, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him make a move up if he adds some weight and proves in interviews that he doesn't have any character concerns.
