By most reasonable measures, 2012 was a successful season for the Baltimore Ravens. It obviously didn't end with a Super Bowl victory, but it did include a 12-4 regular-season record and trip to the AFC championship game. Their defense also allowed the third fewest points and the third fewest yards in the NFL. The 2012 offseason is a bit of a mixed bag as a handful of key players will be free agents of one form or another.
Among 2011 starters, Ray Rice is probably the most significant player to be an unrestricted free agent. Other starters who will be free agents include cornerback Cary Williams (restricted), center Matt Birk (unrestricted), defensive end Cory Redding (unrestricted) and linebacker Jarrett Johnson (unrestricted). Linebacker Brendan Ayanbadejo, who's the primary backup to the aging Ray Lewis, will also be an unrestricted free agent.
