USMNT's Argentina Friendly Confirmed For March 26 At Giants Stadium

The rumored United States Men's National Team (USMNT) friendly against Argentina is going to happen, according to a tweet mid-day Friday from Sports Illustrated's Grant Wahl. The match will take place on March 26 at surprisingly familiar grounds. Whereas the contest was thought destined to take place at Qwest Field in Seattle, the confirmation has the event scheduled for New Meadowlands Stadium (Giants Stadium) in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Per Wahl's Twitter:

AP: US to play Argentina on March 26 at Giants Stadium in New Jersey. Another good friendly for US, which meets Egypt in Feb.less than a minute ago via web

Giants Stadium was the location of the United States' last meeting with Argentina's. On June 8, 2008, the then number one ranked Albiceleste came to the States only to be shutout by Tim Howard, the teams playing to a scoreless draw.

The Argentina match will be the third of 2011 for the men's national team. Bob Bradley's selection will take on Chile in January before a February trip to Cairo, a rematch against an Egypt team the States last faced in the 2009 Confederations Cup, winning 3-0.

HAHA!

And that’s probably the first time I’ve ever lol’d at that …
… but I was hoping for an excuse to have a early spring sojourn in Seattle.
Now, I’ll just have to stop using the word sojourn.
