Around SBN: 7 Important Questions About The Heat Vs. Celtics Series

Peyton Manning Still Wants To Return To Colts This Season

The Indianapolis Colts have yet to place Peyton Manning on injured reserve even though most feel that Manning won't play a down for the Colts after undergoing surgery on his neck. Colts owner Jim Irsay caused a stir a couple weeks ago when he said Manning likely wouldn't play this season, and later clarified his comments to indicate that Manning isn't definitely out this year.

Manning spoke this week with the Associated Press and indicated that he still holds out hope he can play this year. Considering his type of injury, that will likely be a decision based on medical reports and not Manning himself.

Manning also said things are progressing well in his recovery.

Manning says he is getting X-rays every four weeks on his neck and his recovery has progressed to the point that doctors will allow him to stand on the sideline, which is where he plans to watch Sunday's game against Kansas City (1-3).

This isn't exactly "breaking news" but Manning hasn't talked much publicly about his injury.

Despite Manning's hope that he can return this year, SB Nation's Stampede Blue has argued that, with the Colts rash of injuries, they should just place him on IR now and free up a roster spot.
