Brewers vs. Diamonbacks: Big Bunt Ties Game 2-2 In 9th

John Axford hadn't blown a save since the middle of April.

Gerardo Parra hadn't hit safely since September.

Sean Burroughs hadn't gotten a big hit since 2006.

Burroughs and Parra have happily busted their streaks and Axford has unhappily broken his, and Game 5 of this Division Series is now tied 2-2 going into the bottom of the ninth inning.

Axford entered the game in the top of the ninth, having converted 44 straight save opportunities. But Parra, hitless in the Division Series, drove Axford's first pitch into the gap for a leadoff double. Burroughs was up next, due to a double-switch after the last half-inning. He tried to get a bunt down, failed, and on a 3-2 pitch blooped a single into left field, with Parra stopping at third.

Next up: Willie Bloomquist, who did get the bunt down, for a safety squeeze that plated Parra with the tying run and went as a single for Bloomquist.

And still nobody was out.

Then John Axford remembered that he's John Axford, and struck out Aaron Hill, turned a weak grounder from Justin Upton into a fielder's choice, and retired Henry Blanco on a grounder to shortstop, with Rafael Betancourt just beating Upton to second base.

Axford's streak has ended, but the Brewers still control their fate as it's 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth.
