Overview: Rattlesnake Bridge has just seven lifetime starts to his name and a lone win against stakes competition in the ungraded Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth Park this summer. While his resume isn't lined with the glittery Grade 1 accomplishments of his rivals, he did run well to finish 2nd in the Travers Stakes to fellow Classic contender Stay Thirsty. In his final Breeders' Cup tune-up, he finished 3rd behind To Honor and Serve and Ruler On Ice in the Grade 2 Pennsylvania Derby.
Earlier this year, Rattlesnake Bridge finished 2nd to Uncle Mo in the ungraded Timely Writer takes at Gulfstream Park, although he never seriously threatened the juvenile champion at any time during the race.
Rattlesnake Bridge has one factor in his corner that is sure to attract the interest in at least a few of the gamblers at the Breeders' Cup: jockey Calvin Borel. The three-time Kentucky Derby winning Borel is known for his rail-skimming rides at his home track of Churchill Downs, and can single-handedly move the odds on a horse that would be a long shot in any other circumstance, as he did with Twice the Appeal (when he went off at a ridiculous 11/1) in this year's Kentucky Derby.
