The San Jose Sharks have plenty of offensive weapons. Patrick Marleau just happens to be one of them. Yet, Marleau has arguably been not only the best player on the Sharks lately, but the entire NHL.
Marleau'a fourth-career hat trick led the Sharks to a 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche.
San Jose is 6-1-1 in its last eight games, including a three-game winning streak, and 11-2-1 since October 21. Marleau has been the catalyst; he has nine goals and eight assists in his last 13 games.
Marleau is complimented by Joe Thornton (20 points) and Joe Pavelski (19 points), who are all within the top 25 scorers in the NHL. The Sharks as a team rank fifth in goals per game with 3.06 per game. Suffice to say, San Jose is rolling.
With the win, San Jose claimed sole possession of the Pacific Division. The Sharks as a team are measured by their postseason success (or lack thereof), but they're in it once again.
