The Wisconsin Badgers tipped off against the UMKC Kangaroos, starting out going back and forth for the first five minutes of the game or so. After that however, the Badgers poured on the points. Wisconsin outscored the Kangaroos 41-18 in the first half, essentially putting the game out of reach out of the gate. The Kangaroos just couldn't handle center Jared Berggren, as he scored 21 points with relative ease, playing just 21 minutes.
The Badgers also got 12 points off the bench from guard Ben Brust. Wisconsin's early lead allowed a lot of bench players to get plenty of time on the floor, as Wisconsin played a total of nine players off their bench. UMKC just couldn't sink enough shots early on and the Badgers just steam rolled them to an easy 77-31 victory. UMKC's leading scorers, Reggie Chamberlain and Thomas Staton picked up 7 points each.
