2012 NFL Draft: Stanford TE Zach Ertz not going pro

Stanford junior tight end Zach Ertz announced on the radio Monday night (and delivered via the team's Twitter account) that he won't enter the 2012 NFL Draft.

Ertz is one of three talented tight ends for Stanford, along with Coby Fleener, a senior, and Levine Toilolo, a junior. As a prospect, Ertz is a better blocker than Fleener or Toilolo and has good size at 6-foot-6 and 249 pounds.

This season, in eight games, Ertz has 23 receptions for 308 yards and 3 touchdowns. He hasn't tallied any receiving yards since Oct. 22 against Washington when he had 2 receptions for 29 yards.

The only thing Ertz has to wonder now is who will be throwing him the football. Junior quarterback Andrew Luck is entering the draft and is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick. The other quarterbacks on Stanford's roster are juniors Josh Nunes and Robbie Picazo, sophomores Brett Nottingham and David Olson and freshmen Evan Crower and Kevin Hogan.

Also on Monday, Luck was awarded with the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and named a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.
